NOT BY MIGHT NOR BY POWER

“Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going.  I returned and saw under the sun that –
The race is not to the swift,
Nor the battle to the strong,
Nor bread to the wise,
Nor riches to men of understanding,
Nor favour to men of skill;
But time and chance
happen to them all” Ecclesiastes 9:10-11.

The Wright brothers – two bicycle mechanics – pioneered the first aeroplane.  Yet Dr Samuel P. Langley, -  (founder of the Smithsonian, an astrophysical observatory; astronomer; physicist; inventor of the bolometer,  pioneer of aviation and professor of mathematics a brilliant scientist who had written volumes on the subject), was expected to do it before them.

However, when Langley tried his first plane, it crashed and the press labelled it “a ridiculous fiasco.”  But he ignored their criticism and stayed focused.  Two months later, when he tried again, the plane plunged upside down into a river and the pilot almost downed.  This time the New York Times labelled it “Langley’s Folly” and said he should give up.  He did!  Unable to bounce back, he gave up his life’s dream without ever seeing one of his planes fly successfully in the air.

Nine days later, Orville and Wilbur Wright, who were school drop outs and with no funds, flew their plane, Flyer One, over the sand of Kittyhawk and into the history books, they basically received their inspiration from a toy helicopter their father bought them when they were children and gained the mechanical skills essential for their success by working for years in the printing shop with printing presses, bicycles and other machinery.

I pray for each one of us to be established in our God given calling and purpose on earth. “Not by might nor by power but by my spirit says the Lord of hosts.” – Zachariah 4:6b.

You can receive your own inspiration from God! Commit your life’s passion and goals into the hands of God, follow your God given heart’s desire. Be prayerful about them and have faith in God.
“Commit your works on to the Lord, and your thoughts shall be established.” Proverbs 16:3.

…”then you shall say in your heart, ‘My power and the might of my hand have gained me this wealth.’  And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your father, as it is this day Deuteronomy 8:17-18.

One more thing reader– Never give up on your God given dreams!  Always be optimistic and persistent.
